UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has backed FAI proposals to Government on the funding of facilities for Irish football ahead of the UEFA Europa League final at the Dublin Arena on Wednesday, May 22.
FAI President Paul Cooke outlined the FAI’s Facility Investment Vision and Strategy for Irish Football to President Čeferin at a meeting at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon last week.
The pair discussed the investment into Facilities and Academies outlined in the FAI Strategy document and examined the FAI’s asks of Local and National Government in terms of investment into Irish football.
Government leaders will now be invited to meet with Presidents Čeferin and FAI Leadership ahead of the UEFA Europa League final at the Dublin Arena next month.
“It was my pleasure to welcome the new FAI President to UEFA last week,” said UEFA President Čeferin.
“We held a very productive meeting where we discussed the ongoing need for investment into Facilities and Academies and the FAI proposals in their Strategy document which we fully endorse here at UEFA.”
“I look forward to discussing these proposals with political leaders on the occasion of the UEFA Europa League Final in Dublin.”
“UEFA have been loyal supporters of Irish football and the FAI, and we look forward to introducing President Čeferin to our Government leaders next month when we will discuss how we can all work together to improve Irish football for all our players and stakeholders,” added Paul Cooke.
