Start of the Allianz National League in Football
Dublin against Donegal is the standout clash in Division One on Saturday night, with Meath and Derry a tasty starter in Division Two the same afternoon and also at Croke Park. Sunday has two big provincial clashes with Galway playing Mayo and Monaghan facing Armagh, while Kerry take on Roscommon.

Start of the Lidl National League in Ladies’ Football
All-Ireland Champions Dublin host Kerry in the unusual surroundings of Round Towers GAA club in Clondalkin on Saturday afternoon. Plenty of new faces for both sides, but the same old rivalry.

Start of the Allianz Hurling League
Cork have not been seen out in competitive action since last year’s devastating All-Ireland defeat. They will host Waterford in the opening round of the Allianz Hurling League, with all eyes on the new management team led by Ben O’Connor.

Connacht Vs Leinster in the BKT United Rugby Championship
With Stuart Lancaster and Leo Cullen in the coaching kit, and Caelan Doris making his 100th appearance, this would be a game to savour anyway. Add in the fact that it will also mark the official opening of the new Clan Stand at Dexcom Park, with a sold-out crowd of 12,500, and it becomes unmissable.

Athletics Ireland National Indoor League
The qualifying rounds of the league will be held on Saturday January 24th in the NIA ,Dublin and Sunday, February 8th in TUS, Athlone. Top 8 teams will advance to the League Final which will be held in the NIA on Saturday February, 14th.
