Sporting Pride has launched the 2026 edition of its LGBTQ+ Sports Clubs Directory, the only all-island guide dedicated to promoting inclusive sporting environments for LGBTQ+ people across Ireland.
Now in its fourth year, the directory provides a comprehensive, province-by-province listing of LGBTQ+ inclusive sports clubs operating throughout the island.
Supported through the Department of Foreign Affairs under its Sport for All: Empowering LGBTQ+ Participation and Inclusion Across the Island initiative, the publication aims to make it easier for individuals to find safe, welcoming and affirming spaces to take part in sport.
Since its first release in 2022, the number of clubs listed has increased by more than 133 per cent, reflecting a significant growth in inclusive sporting opportunities nationwide.
The expansion highlights both rising demand within the LGBTQ+ community and a broader commitment from clubs and organisations to foster environments where diversity and inclusion are actively embraced. Both of which are to be celebrated.
The 2026 directory will be distributed widely in both print and digital formats. A total of 4,500 copies will be inserted into the Spring edition of GCN, Ireland’s largest LGBTQ+ publication. In Ulster, the directory will also feature in a printed article within GNI Magazine, reaching a further 2,000 readers.
Both publications will promote the directory across their online platforms and social media channels, broadening its reach and ensuring accessibility beyond print circulation. In addition, Sporting Pride will distribute a further 1,000 copies at events and community outreach initiatives throughout the year.
By presenting clubs from every province in a single, unified resource, the directory encourages participation that extends beyond county lines and jurisdictional boundaries. It supports collaboration and connection between sporting communities North and South, while also promoting travel and shared experiences across the island.
Over the past four years, the directory has become a trusted reference point for individuals seeking inclusive sporting opportunities, helping to enhance wellbeing, reduce social isolation and strengthen community ties within the LGBTQ+ population.
