TG4 has underlined the enduring appeal of free-to-air Gaelic Games coverage after more than two million views were recorded across television, streaming and social media for its GAA Beo Super Saturday and Super Sunday broadcasts.
The Irish-language broadcaster’s comprehensive coverage of the final round of the Allianz Hurling and Football Leagues delivered audiences at scale, reinforcing the value of accessible live sport at a critical point in the domestic calendar.
Across the weekend, TG4 brought viewers live coverage from all games in Division 1 and 2 Football and Division 1A Hurling, alongside Division 3 Football fixtures, ensuring nationwide access to a decisive round of league action.
Over One Million Tune In Live
More than 1.17 million viewers engaged with live match coverage across TG4’s linear and digital platforms, highlighting the strength of demand for Gaelic Games content beyond traditional broadcast.
Television remained the single largest driver with 654,200 viewers, while digital consumption continues to grow, with 439,300 tuning in via YouTube and a further 79,100 watching through the TG4 Player and app.
Standout fixtures across the weekend included the Division 1A Hurling clash between Limerick and Galway, which drew an audience of 234,000, and Galway’s football meeting with Dublin in Division 1, attracting 217,800 viewers.
Social Media Extends Reach Beyond Live Action
In addition to live coverage, TG4 generated a further 1.13 million views across Instagram, Facebook and X, demonstrating the increasing importance of social platforms in amplifying reach and engagement.
Key moments that resonated with audiences included Galway’s missed penalty and subsequent sideline flashpoint against Dublin, which recorded over 158,000 views, and Seán Ryan’s late goal that secured promotion for Wexford, attracting more than 122,000 views.
These highlights underline how digital storytelling and short-form content are now central to how fans experience and share the drama of live sport.
TG4’s GAA Beo offering continues to play a vital role in bringing live Allianz League action to audiences free-to-air, ensuring accessibility for supporters across Ireland and internationally.
Super Saturday and Super Sunday, along with all GAA Beo coverage, are produced by Nemeton TV in the Gaeltacht of An Rinn. The production continues to receive industry recognition, with TG4’s 2025 ‘Super Sunday’ coverage currently nominated for a 2026 Royal Television Society Award in the Live Sport category.
