Lifford Greyhound Stadium has secured a three-year sponsorship commitment from BoyleSports for the Lifford Oaks, providing important commercial certainty for one of the biggest greyhound racing events in the Northwest.

The agreement will run through 2028 and places one of Irish greyhound racing’s most established commercial supporters behind the principal competition on the calendar at the County Donegal venue.

This year’s BoyleSports Lifford Oaks gets underway on Saturday, October 24, with 24 runners competing across three rounds.

The final will take place on Saturday, November 7, with €15,000 going to the winner.

BoyleSports Head of Sponsorship Liam McKee said the agreement reinforced the company’s investment in key greyhound events and venues around Ireland.

Lifford Stadium General Manager Colm McGee described the deal as positive news for greyhound followers across the Northwest and highlighted the importance of having backing for what he described as the biggest race on the Lifford calendar.

Sport for Business Perspective

Much of the sponsorship discussion naturally gravitates toward the country’s biggest national properties.

The largest teams, championships and governing bodies generate the headlines and command the biggest fees.

But the Irish sporting ecosystem also depends on hundreds of regional events and venues.

A sponsorship that might appear relatively modest beside a major national agreement can be disproportionately important to an individual venue’s sustainability and ambition.

That is the context in which the Lifford agreement should be viewed.
