Golf Ireland has opened nominations for the fifth edition of its Club Volunteer Awards, recognising the people whose behind-the-scenes work keeps clubs running and helps the game grow across the island.
In 2027, five awards will be presented: Women in Golf, Disability & Inclusion, Sustainability, Junior Development, and Excellence in Volunteering.
Clubs and individuals can submit multiple entries by Friday, December 4th.
Golf Ireland will announce the winners at the AGM early next year.
The awards have become an important annual recognition of the breadth of volunteering in golf, extending well beyond on-course work.
Last year’s winners included Dolores Hamill of Tandragee in the Women in Golf category, while Eveleen McCurry, Paddy Rae and Roisin Darragh of Cushendall were recognised for their work in Disability and Inclusion.
Peter Edwards and Gerry Kennedy of Bray won the Sustainability Award, Susan O’Sullivan of Monkstown was recognised for Junior Development, and Orla Foley of Headfort received the Excellence in Service Award.
“Volunteers are the foundation of our sport. Without them, clubs simply could not function in the way they do,” said Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly.
“The Club Volunteer Awards are our opportunity to thank them, share their stories and inspire others. We encourage every club to make a nomination and give their volunteers the recognition they deserve.”
The awards return at a time when volunteers across Irish sport continue to receive greater attention, not only for delivering competitions and club activity but also for their work in inclusion, sustainability, governance, and developing young players.
Golf Ireland’s five categories reflect this wider contribution and give clubs an opportunity to recognise work that often happens quietly but is central to the sport’s health.
