Four Star Pizza announce sailing deal

Four Star Pizza has been named as title sponsor of this summer’s ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship in Dublin Bay. The event will feature 400 sailors aged 16 to 19 from 60 nations using 250 boats across a range of classes.  The strength of the tournament in previous years is indicated by 15 medallists at the Beijing 2008 Olympics having been past medallists at the Championship.
Four Star Pizza ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship chairman Brian Craig said: “This investment by Four Star Pizza will help us enormously in promoting the event and in turn promoting the very best in youth sailing in Ireland and across the world.”
Michael Holland, the chairman of Four Star Pizza, described the deal as a “perfect fit” for leveraging the brand with its youthful customer base, adding: “Four Star will do everything it can to support the organisers in making this a memorable and unique World Championship and making Ireland proud to have hosted it in 2012.”

Etihad and Guinness complete sponsor roster for GAA Championships

The GAA has confirmed that Etihad and Guinness have both signed up to one-year renewals on their sponsorship of the All Ireland Hurling Championships, joining Centra whose deal already covered this season.  Both companies have been supporters since the start of the multi sponsor model in 2008 while Guinness were previously the sole headline sponsor dating back to 1995.

Bohemians ‘realistic’ ambitions for new season

New Bohemians manager Aaron Callaghan has admitted the club will concentrate on youth development this season as news emerged of a weekly wage bill unlikely to be much more than €2,000.  The extent of the financial problems suffered by the club after a failed property deal means they have had to lower expectations but a recently signed commercial partnership with Ford does give hope for the future being brighter.

God and Robbie to share stage

The Eucharistic Congress in Dublin this summer will attract tens of thousands from across Europe.  God will have to share the stage at times though with Robbie Keane and Richard Dunne as plans were announced yesterday for Euro 2012 games to be shown on big screens at the RDS Arena and possibly other locations after services.  There is also a session to be delivered by an Austrian bishop on communion and sport.
