Garrycastle from Athlone are the AIB Leinster Senior Football Champions. The westmeath side sealed the title with the very last kick of the game in a Sunday afternoon thriller in Tullamore.
Leading by 1-06 to 0-1 early in the second half it looked like being an easy afternoon but St Brigids pulled their way back point by point and as the clock ticked past 60 minutes they equalised.
Garrycastle were not to be denied though and a free kick in injury time was converted to set up an All Ireland semi final against St Brigids of Roscommon in the new year.
The team is sponsored by local hardware store Ganly’s who renewed their support of the senior team in 2011. St Brigid’s of Dublin are sponsored by iconic city centre nightclub Copperface Jack’s whose association with Dublin GAA supporters has led to a lively year for them.
