The GAA’s National Games Development Centre at the Sport Ireland Campus will be the place to be on Saturday when 32 teams from companies and organisations will come together for a day of Ladies Gaelic Football.

Twelve teams will compete for the top prize, including AIB, which has won the tournament in four of the last five years; PwC, which has two teams; and Zurich Insurance, last year’s Shield winners.

The long-term sponsor of the GAA and Camogie Association announced this year that it was taking on the sponsorship of the LGFA All-Ireland Club Championships as well.

An Post, the Irish Prison Service, the Irish Defence Forces, H&MV Engineering, Boston Scientific from their Galway operation, Navan Hospital, Moate Community School, and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service complete the competitive blitz’s line-up.

There will be a recreational tournament side by side, with Intel, PwC, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Flogas Dublin Fire Brigade, Boston Scientific from Clonmel, and Active8 Energies among the teams hoping to have a great day.

Together with the Sports Direct Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others blitz in Malahide and Portmarnock last month, these are tentpole events for spreading the word of how much enjoyment can be gained from playing alongside friends and colleagues.

I think we will have to participate in a campaign to make it even bigger next year. Good luck to all involved.
