One of the best ways in which a sponsor and a team can work together is when they do so in the area of social good.

AIG, sponsor of Dublin GAA, did just that again this morning when they arranged for Dublin GAA stars Cormac Costello (pictured above), Cian Boland, Aisling O’Neill, and Caoimhe O’Connor to put on a chat and a training session with students from Tyrrelstown Educate Together National School.

The Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Roadshow is an initiative run by AIG ambassador, Bonnar O’Loinsaigh, to partner with minority communities around Dublin, along with their local GAA club to introduce GAA to the children of minority groups and promote participation in the community.

Bonnar was born in Iraq, and since moving to Ireland has become an avid hurler and inspiring promoter of the GAA.

AIG have run a number of DEI Roadshow events throughout 2022 with minority communities including Sikh and Muslim groups.

The intention is to introduce a diverse cultural cohort to Gaelic games and their local GAA club.

The four stars met with the kids and then spoke to the media about getting back into training with Dublin and how they have been since the last Inter-County Championships.

Cian Boland is getting used to new manager Micheál O’Donoghue at the same time as starting a new job with the Gaga Muller Group in the area of project management.

Those skills would stand to all the players who are combining sport with work, education and club. Today was Aisling O’Neill’s first time doing media duties and the dual star with Castleknock took it in her stride.

Caoimhe O’Connor is combining playing in the Yoplait LGFA Higher education competitions with her return to Dublin, while Cormac Costello is bouncing after his own dual season with Whitehall Colmcilles where they got to the quarter-final of the Dublin senior Football Championship and secured a County title with the Intermediate hurlers. What’s that they say about if you need something done ask a busy person.

“Events like today’s focus on our Effort is Equal message, which promotes diversity, gender balance and equality while promoting our great GAA games,” said Aidan Connaughton – General Manager at AIG.

“AIG is deeply rooted in the communities where our customers and colleagues live and our involvement with this campaign reflects our continued commitment to those communities.”
