Amundi, the leading European asset manager, has announced the renewal of its partnership with the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.

The renewal aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting women’s golf tournaments. Amundi strengthened this commitment in 2021 by becoming the title sponsor of a women’s major golf tournament ‘The Amundi Evian Championship’. Amundi is also associated with the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge and the Amundi German Masters, the next edition of which will take place this week.

In addition to the renewal Amundi has also announced that rising Irish star Lauren Walsh is to join the Amundi European Team.

Walsh, 23, turned professional in the summer of 2023. She started playing golf at the age of 10 with her older sister at her local club Castlewarden in County Kildare. At 18, she earned a golf scholarship to Wake Forest University where she spent 4 years studying Mathematical Business and become the ‘Wake Forest Scholar Athlete of the year 2022-2023’.

She is now an ambassador for the Annika Foundation after a successful amateur career including completing in the Curtis Cup, Youth Olympics and across the collegiate circuit in the USA.

The Amundi European Team initiative launched in 2021 as part of the Amundi Women Golf Talent Programme. It aims to support promising young female golfers by providing financial support, increased visibility and access to competitive opportunities.

To date, the programme has supported 16 players from Germany, the United States, China, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the Czech Republic.

“We are delighted to support Lauren at this early stage of her professional golf career and we particularly look forward to Lauren participating at this year’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open, which we are very happy to partner with again this year,” said David Harte, Chief Executive Officer of Amundi Ireland.

“We are proud to welcome Lauren Walsh into the Amundi Golf team,” added Natacha Andermahr, Head of Communications of Amundi.

“The Amundi Women Talent programme is rooted in our commitment to equal opportunities and diversity. The objective is to enable talented young players to progress and reveal themselves on the international scene. Our support of Lauren is a further illustration of this commitment. I wish her and all the 10 young players in the Amundi team every success for the 2024 season.”

“I am excited to be joining the Amundi Women’s Golf Talent Programme at the start of my professional career, said Walsh.

“Amundi have become a leading force in the women’s game and I feel honoured to be a part of the Amundi European Team and to align with this great company and this fantastic group of players.”
