Belgium and Switzerland will be the first opposition for the Republic of Ireland men’s team in 2024 with a double header of friendly fixtures confirmed this morning for March at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland will welcome Belgium on Saturday, March 23rd, with kick-off at 5pm, before Switzerland visit Dublin on Tuesday, March 26th, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Switzerland will face Germany, Scotland and Hungary at Euro 2024 while Belgium will be up against Slovakia, Romania and one of the countries to come through the final playoff round.

Belgium last visited the Aviva Stadium in March 2022 for the FAI Centenary celebration match in an international friendly which saw four goals as Chiedozie Ogbene scored an overhead kick in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Switzerland return to Dublin for the first time since September 2019 when David McGoldrick scored in the 85th minute to secure a 1-1 draw in the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifier.

FAI season tickets have been put back on sale to snap up a few last minute Christmas presents.

There will be another international double header in June ahead of the Euro 2024 finals and then the UEFA Nations League fixtures will kick in from September.
