The Jockey Club in Britain, which operates 14 racecourses including Epsom, Cheltenham and Aintree has appointed its first official travel partner in Thomson Sport.
The deal will enable Thomson Sport to sell packages to all race meetings at the group’s tracks, ranging from ticket only to travel, accomodation and hospitality.
It will also focus on the group’s popular music nights which attracted 500,000 spectators this year.
With tourism high on the government agenda and Ireland a world leader in the sport of horse racing a package of offers to go racing in Ireland as part of the overall Thomson Sport offering would appear to make good commercial sense.
The agreement provides Thomson Sport with a package of rights including the use of The Jockey Club brandmarks; the category designation ‘Official Travel Partner of The Jockey Club’; branding slots to promote Thomson Sport, online links via websites throughout The Jockey Club group, including the new www.thejockeyclub.co.uk; and promotion in The Jockey Club’s marketing and communications materials.
