The big three of Irish sport have adopted a cautious approach so far to Google+. 61 per cent of the world’s top 100 brands are live on the social network one week into its declaring itself ‘open to business’. None of the GAA, FAI or IRFU have yet featured a link to a page on the service.
The FAI has prominent links to Twitter and Facebook feeds. The IRFU has a twitter link and is running an ad linking to a Guinness supporters facebook page while the GAA has a full social media list, albeit not on the home page, linking to 18 of the 32 county boards currently on Twitter and 15 on facebook.
Sport for Business Weekly will feature a series analysing the use of social media by sports governing bodies over the coming weeks.
