The Finals of the Very Camogie National Leagues take place in Croke Park this Sunday and teams and captains were up in Dublin during the week to highlight what a feat of Camogie they will be putting on.
Four-time All-Ireland winner, Cork captain and 2019 All-Star winner, Amy O’Connor and 2019 Soaring Star and 2019 All-Ireland winner, Galway’s Dervla Higgins, were joined by joint Kerry Captains Sara Murphy and Clodagh Walsh and Meath’s Ellen Burke.
2023 marks the 7th year of this title sponsorship, with Very, formerly Littlewoods Ireland, continuing to invest and focus on increasing the exposure of the game and the players.
The start time for the Division 2A Very Camogie Leagues Final between Kerry and Meath is at 12 pm, followed by the Division 1A Final at 1.50 pm where Cork will go head-to-head with Galway.
“Very has been an integral part of supporting Camogie and players over the past 7 years, and getting bums on seats is so important,” said Amy O’Connor.
“As a Very ambassador and a passionate Camogie player, I know how hard we all work for the love of the sport, every team across all divisions have athletes of immense talent. Having people in the stands to witness our skill helps inspire others to take part and support Camogie while also giving the players the boost they need when competing.”
“Having spectators in the stands and the atmosphere that brings to Croke Park breathes life into the teams playing,” added Very Ambassador and Galway’s Dervla Higgins.
“I am buzzing for Sunday’s game. There is no better feeling than representing your county and taking those first steps onto the pitch in Croke Park and it’s even better if we can help inspire people across the country to take part and give Camogie a go – whether it’s playing, attending matches or streaming our games.”
“We are proud to be the title sponsor of the Very Camogie Leagues for the seventh year running,” said Head of Marketing for Very, Catherine O’Toole.
“Our objective is always to showcase Camogie for the phenomenal sport that it is and inspire people to get behind the sport and the players. For the last two years we have had the Division 1 A and 2A finals in Croke Park, and we are delighted that it will again be played in the stadium.”
“It’s great to celebrate what has been an exceptional Very Camogie Leagues season together. We’re encouraging everyone to buy tickets to attend on Sunday, giving the players the support they deserve.”
“This year with a new league format has seen the most tightly contested games,” concluded Camogie Association President Hilda Breslin.
“The first of our Very Camogie league finals last weekend were outstanding and we anticipate even more excitement this weekend. We encourage all supporters to buy your tickets and come to the games in person to show your support.”
