Cheltenham yesterday was the perfect mix of brilliance and sentiment with Honeysuckle and Constitution Hill bringing the house down but able backed up by a supporting cast of marvelous stories.

From Barry Connor’s Cheltenham redemption with Marine Nationale. His Triumph Hurdle winner from ten years ago, Our Conor, was killed in the Champion Hurdle the following year. Yesterday was one of the better days and also for young jockey Michael O’Sullivan who rode not one but two winners and at the tender age of 22.

Five wins for Ireland, one for Scotland and one for England as the action recommences then on Day two, and Anglo-Irish rivalry renewed again in the feature Queen Mother Champion Chase at 3-30.

ITV announced yesterday they have extended their contract to broadcast the Festival and 100 other race meetings across 2024, 25 and 26.
