
Those of us of a certain age will have fond memories of Billy Dane, the star of Billy’s Boots in Roy of the Rovers, Scorcher and Tiger down the years.
Well he’s back in a modern guise and he’s switched to gaelic football over in Mayo.
Elverys have produced a Christmas ad which has been viewed over 100,000 times on You Tube and shared 12,000 times through social media. That’s enough to put in the top list of Irish videos, certainly of the season and likely of the year. It comes after a Die Hard parody used to promote sales of Ireland’s Rugby World Cup jersey was another runaway success.
Written (with a nod to Billy) and directed by emerging Irish Director Lorcan Hynes, the ad stars talented young actor, Sean Tracey along with seasoned actress Julia McDonnell. The film which launched on social media and has run on prime time national TV from for a week, is a real mark on how indigenous Irish firms are stepping up their game in terms of engaging content..
