The English Rugby Football Union have committed significant support to the Women’s team heading for the World Cup in France next month.  This video is part of a #Carrythemhome campaign aimed at garnering support from across the sports and celebrity spectrum.

“Following on from the Rugby World Cup in 2010 and the 2012 Olympic Games, the profile of Women’s sport has never been higher,” said Nicola Ponsford of the RFU.  “We want to make the most of this opportunity to create mass support for our team.”

Ireland named their squad yesterday, to be captained by Fiona Coghlan.  The team open their campaign on Friday, August 1 against the USA before playing New Zealand on August 5th and Kazakhstan on August 9th.

TG4 have confirmed they are to broadcast Ireland’s pool games live as well as both semi-finals and finals. Ireland’s clash with New Zealand will also be televised live on Sky Sports.

Parity of Esteem CampaignFiona Coghlan is on the Sport for Business ‘Parity of Esteem’ Group of Sporting and Business leaders looking at ways to make equality in sport a reality rather than an aspiration.
