Lucozade Sport has unveiled Ireland back-row, Caelan Doris and Ireland Women’s Sevens player, Vikki Wall as its new Lucozade Sport Athletes. Lucozade Sport is the Official Hydration Partner for all Irish Rugby teams.
This partnership with the two players as Lucozade Sport Athletes is the latest step from the brand in showcasing its support of Irish rugby as excitement builds around another important year for the sport ahead of the Irish 7’s involvement at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Doris is widely recognised as one of the rising stars of rugby both nationally and internationally. He earned his first cap for Ireland against Scotland during the Guinness Six Nations in 2020 and since then, has represented his country on 38 occasions, most recently in Ireland’s win over Italy on Sunday, captaining his country for the first time.
He took a belt in that game and had to become familiar with the joys of foundation and concealer for the picture above.
He was a key part of Ireland’s Rugby World Cup squad last year and was named in the World Rugby Men’s Dream Team of the Year following the tournament. He also picked up the Rugby Players Ireland Men’s Players’ Player of the Year in 2023.
Vikki Wall has taken more of a circuitous route to the sport of rugby. Already a two-time All-Ireland winner in Ladies Football with her native Meath, she enjoyed a successful spell playing Australian Rules for the 2022 AFLW season and in 2023, she joined up with the Ireland Women’s Sevens Team with aspirations of making the squad for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
In January 2024, she made her debut for the team at the SVNS World Series event in Perth, starting in Ireland’s Quarter-Final defeat of Japan. The team would go on to win the event, claiming their first SVNS World Series title.
“We are delighted to have both Caelan and Vikki on board as Lucozade Sport Athletes,” said Mark Aherne, General manager of Suntory Beverages in Ireland.
“They’re both brilliant young athletes who have already shown tremendous quality on both the national and international stages in their careers.”
“Lucozade Sport has a brilliant history of working with some incredible talent, not just in rugby but across the world of sport, and Caelan and Vikki are wonderful additions. We are all looking forward to watching them both on and off the pitch this year, in what is set to be another momentous year for Irish Rugby.”
“Since being brought into the Irish Rugby set up for the first time in 2020, Lucozade Sport has always been there to support both myself and the team with our hydration needs,” said Doris at the launch of the new ambassadors today.
“I’m delighted to now extend my relationship with the brand as a Lucozade Sport Athlete and cannot wait to begin working with them and continue to progress in my National and International Rugby career.”
“I’m very proud to become a Lucozade Sport Athlete as I embark on the next stage of my sporting journey,” added Wall.
“As a rugby player, staying hydrated and fuelled are the most important things I need to consider be it for training or a match and Ireland’s number one sports drink is available whenever I need it.”
