The Dublin GAA County Board last night confirmed the appointment of Finbarr O’Mahony to the role of Dublin GAA CEO, replacing John Costello who is retiring from the position at the end of the current season.

The meeting was told that there had been 28 applicants for the position, twelve of whom were initially shortlisted. Seven were interviewed at the first round stage and three at the second round.

O’Mahony was the unanimous recommendation of the selection committee and will now fill the highest-profile role on the administrative side of the county game.

O’Mahony is a member of St Pats Palmerstown and has recently served as the County Board treasurer so he will be able to hit the ground running. He is an accountant by training.

“I congratulate Finbarr on his appointment,” said County Board Chair Mick Seavers. “We wish him every success in the years ahead with the full support of the Dublin GAA Community.”

O’Mahony will take up the role from November 1st, working alongside Commercial and Marketing Director Tomás Quinn, and at the dawn of a new era for the County with a successor to AIG, sponsors for the past decade, also expected to be announced shortly after the conclusion of the current season.
