Dublin GAA players announce Linwoods PartnershipArmagh based health food company, Linwoods was at Parnell Park yesterday kicking off the second year of it’s partnership as Official Health Food Supplier to Dublin GAA.

The brand works with individual players and nutritionists attached to the Dublin GAA set up to ensure that players have access to and information on the right selection of superfoods, nuts, berries and seeds.

Dublin GAA players announce Linwoods Partnership-31“We have built a reputation for providing high quality healthy foods and we have respect for the dedication, commitment and passion within Dublin GAA,” said Linwoods’ Head of Marketing Sarah Shimmons speaking to Sport for Business as other media gathered around Dublin stars Oising Gough, Michael Fitzsimons, Paddy Andrews and Daire Plunkett.

“We see these same values reflected within our own company since we were established in 1965.”

“We understand the importance of nutrition not only within sport, but in everyday life and our Superfoods range has gone from strength to strength – demonstrating the public appetite for healthy food which does you good.”

“Ireland is quite a way ahead of the rest of Europe and the UK in terms of a recognition of healthy eating.”

“That might come from having to pay to go to the doctor but is a real benefit and the kind of prominence of display, and detail of education that you see for healthy food in retailers like Supervalu and Dunnes Stores is a model for how others might look to answer what is clearly a public demand.”

“We look on the partnership with Dublin GAA as a strategic step forward for Linwoods as we seek other opportunities within the sporting world to provide our nutritious foods to competing athletes.”

“Sport is clearly an important area for us.  A recent survey at the University of Ulster showed that 70% of students are taking part in some form of group sport and superfoods are understood as a way of helping get fit and stay healthy.”

“Throughout the year with Dublin GAA we will be doing sampling at matches and online promotions which help in terms of understanding.”

“Last year we got a great reaction to our pancake challenge with Paddy Andrews and Jonny Cooper and it obviously worked as the lads went on to win the All Ireland.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with Linwoods for a second year,” added Tomás Quinn, Commercial manager with Dublin GAA.

“As a leading Irish company in a growing market sector, we are well aware of the benefits their products have for our players. We believe this partnership is another sign of our desire to help the players meet the needs of balancing inter county football and hurling with their day to day lives.”

The brand is supplying product to all the Dublin senior teams including Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie.
