Damien Duff is the star new addition to the RTÉ line up on television for the Euro 2016 coverage which kicks off in nine days time.

He will join Darragh Moloney and the regular team of panellists including John Giles, Eamon Dunphy, Liam Brady, Richie Sadlier, and Didi Hamann with Ray Houghton, Ronnie Whelan, Brian Kerr and Jim Beglin on commentary duty alongside George Hamilton and Ger Canning, Stephen Alkin and John Kenny.

Details of RTÉ’s extensive coverage of the tournament were revealed at a reception in the French Ambassador’s Residence on Ailesbury Road, Dublin.

RTÉ Sport unveiled full details of its UEFA EURO 2016 coverage across TV, radio, online and mobile ensuring that Irish audiences are offered the very best of the action and atmosphere of the tournament from France.

This will include exclusive live coverage of 20 group games, five round-of-16 games, two quarter-finals and both semi-finals as well as shared live coverage of the final itself.

All three of the Republic of Ireland games agains Sweden on Monday 13 June, Belgium on Saturday 18 June and Italy on Wednesday 22 June will be live on  RTÉ 2.

Aidan Power and Jacqui Hurley 1/6/2016Each evening of the tournament RTÉ2 will have a full highlights programme presented by Jacqui Hurley and Aidan Power with panellists including former Ireland internationals Kenny Cunningham and Clinton Morrison and current Irish Women’s internationals Stephanie Roche and Niamh Fahey.

“2016 is a huge summer for Irish sport with the GAA Championships already underway and the Olympics, Paralympics and European Athletic Championships to come and we’re delighted today to be able to announce full details of all of our UEFA EURO 2016 coverage here in such appropriate surroundings,” said Ryle Nugent Group Head of Sport at RTÉ.

Joining RTÉ Group Football Correspondent Tony O’Donoghue on the ground in France will be Dave Kelly and Daire O’Brien, with all three reporting from in and around the Irish camp as well as giving a flavour of the Ireland fan experience in France.

This year’s coverage will also see Irish language commentary available for TV viewers and Après Match will also return.

In addition to the coverage on RTÉ2 television, RTÉ Radio 1 will have all of the Republic of Ireland’s group games live with Adrian Eames and Brian Kerr on commentary plus daily newsdesks with all the latest from the Irish camps and the wider tournament on both RTÉ Radio 1 and 2fm.

On digital, a dedicated-Euro 2016 website www.rte.ie/euro2016 launches today to provide the latest updates from the Ireland camp throughout the tournament, along with columns from the RTÉ Soccer analysts. The RTÉ Soccer podcast will run throughout Ireland’s involvement.

For online audiences, RTÉ Player (online and mobile) will show RTÉ’s Euro 2016 matches live and on-demand, as well as live pre-match press conferences, match highlights, analysis from the RTÉ Sport expert panel and reports from the team’s base in Versailles.

RTÉ Player’s dedicated Euro 2016 hub is also bringing fans a host of extras including a collection of the best soccer documentaries, soccer skills videos from Irish freestyle YouTube star Dara Coyne and ‘The Road to France’ collection featuring all twelve of Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifying matches.
