This Saturday’s Leinster Hurling Championship semi-finals will take place at Croke Park in front of an attendance of 8,000.
Tickets will likely be distributed among County and Club supporters with details to be confirmed later today. It is expected that each county will get 2,000 tickets.
The attendance figure is double that which was permitted for last Saturday’s Lidl Ladies Football National League finals, which itself was double the first games back for the Littlewoods Camogie National League Final the previous week.
The games between Dublin and Galway and Kilkenny and Wexford will take place at 2 pm and 4-30 PM and will be switched from O’Moore park in Portlaoise where they were originally scheduled in front of a crowd of only 200.
The Connacht Football Championship semi-final between Roscommon and Galway at Dr Hyde Park has also been added to the Pilot events list and will welcome over 1,000 fans.
2,400 will be in attendance at the Cork and Limerick Munster Hurling Semi-Final.
This positive progression is based on gaining a greater understanding of crowd movements with each of the pilot test events and will hopefully continue through the coming weeks.
Whether the rollout and rolling up of numbers will be impacted by Cabinet decisions on the reopening of Hospitality is as yet unknown but the pilot programmes is expected to continue regardless.
There may also be further details on a relaxation of the restriction on numbers attending outdoor events after today’s Cabinet meeting.
