Ticketmaster Ireland has published a shortlist of eight events in the running to be named their Sports Event of the Year.
The final decision will be made by a public vote and the Sports Event will be judged alongside other categories ranging from Festivals to Comedy to the Live Act of the Year.
The eight sports events cover Gaelic Games, Football, Rugby, Boxing, and Ice Hockey and are as follows:
GAA All Ireland Football Championship Semi-Final between Dublin and Kerry at Croke Park
Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team Vs Finland at Tallaght Stadium
Michael Conlan against Miguel Marriaga at the SSE Arena in Belfast
Bank of Ireland Autumn International between Ireland and South Africa at the Aviva Stadium
UEFA Nations League between the Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team and Scotland at the Aviva Stadium
Heineken Champions Cup Tie between Munster and Toulouse at Thomond Park
GAA Munster Hurling Final between Clare and Limerick at Semple Stadium
Challenge Cup Ice Hockey Final between Belfast Giants and Cardiff devils at the SSE Arena in Belfast
There are some memorable events in there and the ultimate winner will likely come down to how each of the event organisers might fire up the audience that was at each match to go and vote.
You can do so here.
Sport for Business Perspective:
The return of live sporting action was a huge bonus after two years of empty or restricted attendance. An Award like this is purely subjective and the memory will be based on the quality of the action as well as the vibrancy of the atmosphere. Best of luck to all the events that are shortlisted.
