eir and the GAA have announced a further one-year extension of the brand’s sponsorship of the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship.
The relationship will now continue to the end of the 2022 season, extending the current relationship until the end of the 2022 season.
The first partnership between the two organisations was back in 2011 so this extension will mean a twelve-year association by the time it comes to term in four years time.
Down the years it has activated the partnership through the use of Huggity’s Fanpic and through a variety of social media campaigns.
This year’s #ThatOneDay campaign was created to celebrate the moments that make up the Championship along the way and not just with the lifting of Sam Maguire at the season end.
The fifth of eight episodes in the content series was released yesterday and can be seen below. It features Tommy Bowe recounting the story of his and his families connection to Monaghan GAA.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the GAA and look forward to continuing to work with them to promote the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship,” said Susan Brady, Managing Director Marketing of eir.
“We are always looking at innovative and fresh new ways to support the championship and have been delighted with the response we’ve had to date to the #ThatOneDay campaign. That series would not be possible without the diverse and hugely interesting stories that exist within Gaelic football. It has been great to be able to shine a light on those stories.”
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with eir for the Senior Football All-Ireland championship by a further year running until the end of Championship 2022,” added GAA President John Horan.
“We work really well with eir, share an understanding of the importance of Gaelic Games to Irish community life and are delighted that they have committed to the GAA until 2022.”
