DAN11842Munster Rugby has signed a new technology partnership with Eircom business solutions.  It brings the brand back into rugby after a long association as sponsor of the Republic of Ireland international team in soccer and as a current top line sponsor of the All Ireland Football Championship.

Eircom wholesale hosted a family fun day at Garryowen Rugby Club earlier in the summer marking the roll out locally of the company’s high speed broadband fibre network.

The deal will involve providing a range of services to ensure Munster Rugby is at the cutting edge of technology. It is indicative of a growing trend within sponsorship to tie branding and association with a team or event very closely to the services offered by the company.

The new partnership was officially announced yesterday in Thomond Park by Eircom Business Solutions Marketing Director Gary Disley and Munster Rugby players Keith Earls, Felix Jones and David Foley.

“We are delighted to have an official partnership with such an illustrious club and we look forward to ensuring Munster Rugby has all the communications support necessary to stay at the top,” said Disley.

“We have already begun working on a number of projects for the club. The sponsorship is a great fit for eircom Business Solutions. We admire the team spirit of the club and look forward to supporting them this season and beyond.”

“We are delighted to welcome eircom Business Solutions to the Munster Rugby family,” added Garret Fitzgerald, CEO of Munster Rugby.

“As Ireland’s leading communications company, we are excited by the opportunities that this partnership offers both Munster Rugby and our supporters. We look forward to exploring these in the future.”

It remains to be seen what those opportunities will be but with Eircom’s position offering broadband, fixed line, mobile and TV services they are a natural fit for any sporting property looking to engage with fans.  It’s previous relationship with the sport was as a sponsor of Leinster Rugby’s online TV offering.
