Allianz Insurance has officially launched the Allianz Courage Chronicles, a series of videos with the company’s long-standing Paralympic ambassadors Ellen Keane, Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop.
In keeping with the “We Cover Courage” advertising campaign which began in 2019, The Courage Chronicles pull back the curtain on the trials and tribulations of Ireland’s elite athletes as they set their sights on representing Ireland on the global stage during such uncertain times.
The first of the videos, with European gold-medallist Keane, premiered on Allianz social channels and can be seen in full below. The chronicles of Smyth and McKillop will follow in the coming months.
In the video, filmed at Dollymount Strand, Clontarf Baths and the National Aquatic Centre, Ellen is seen coming to terms with the pressure to perform which results from being thrust into the spotlight at such a young age and emerging as one of Ireland’s most recognisable athletes and role model to anyone struggling with self-confidence.
Allianz Ireland has been a proud sponsor of Paralympics Ireland since 2010, with the company title sponsor of the Irish Paralympic Athletics and Swimming squads. Allianz has championed Paralympic sport in Ireland through sponsoring the first-ever live broadcasts of Para-Sport in Ireland during the 2012 London Games on Eir Sport and again during the 2016 Rio Games bringing coverage to the nation through RTE.
At a global level, Allianz will become the Worldwide Insurance Partner of the Olympic & Paralympic Movements from 2021 to 2028. Through this partnership, Allianz will work with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee to propose innovative and integrated insurance solutions that support the Olympic and Paralympic Games, sport fans, national teams and athletes.
“The filming process for this video was really enjoyable, and I’m very excited to share my story,” said Keane.
“Allianz have been an incredible support to me from the early days of my career right through to the postponement of this year’s Paralympic Games. Tokyo 2020 would have ended last week, but now my focus is on getting to the Games next year in the best shape of my life.”
“Allianz Ireland is immensely proud of our long-standing association with Paralympics Ireland and have been in awe at the courage of our ambassadors Ellen, Jason and Michael to keep going despite the postponement of the games,” added Allianz Ireland CEO Sean McGrath.
“With Paralympics Ireland, we have a shared ambition to promote awareness of these elite athletes and we’re delighted to launch the first video of The Courage Chronicles series, focusing on Ellen.”
“Her commitment to work harder than anyone else, and her hard-won confidence in her
abilities have allowed her to become an Irish household name, and a role model to young people across the country, and we cannot wait to see what 2021 has in store for her.”
