Tickets went on sale this morning for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships set to take place at the Sport Ireland Campus on December 12th 2021.
The Championships are now a fully ticketed event, and walk up attendance on the day will not be permitted.
Tickets are available for purchase via the Fingal-Dublin 2021.ie website.
Adult tickets will cost €8 (excluding processing fee), while tickets for children under the age of 16 are free. Please note, children under 16 must have a ticket to enter.
The Championships will attract some of the world’s top athletes and there will be a strong team setting out over the course representing Ireland.
“Cross country holds a special place in Irish athletics,” said Local Organising Group Chair Liam Hennessy.
“Successful editions of the World Cross Country were held in Limerick in 1979 and in Dublin in 2002 while the European Cross Country Champiuonships were held here in 2009.”
“Iconic figures in the sport such as John Treacy, Sonia O’Sullivan, Catherina McKiernan achieved notable successes at World and European levels. They were joined in the recent past by Fionnuala McCormack who won European gold on two occasions and whom we hope will play a pivotal role in this year’s championships.”
The event will also be one of the last over which John Treacy will preside as the host CEO of Sport Ireland, a timely bookend to a career which started on the Cross country field.
