Stephen Findlater has been appointed to the role of Communications and Marketing Manager at Hockey Ireland.
Findlater has been a freelance journalist covering a variety of sports for 15 years, with two long term commitments.
The first of these was as a reporter and then sports everything with the Dublin Gazette group of Newspapers where he calculates he has contributed over 3,000 articles and produced more than 2,000 pages of content covering everything from local GAA to breakdancing, and always with an eye on hockey.
He has been the founder, editor and energy behind The HookHockey website which has provided consistent coverage and analysis of the sport away from the mainstream media.
Now he is moving ‘in-house’ and what a year to do so with the European Championships starting this weekend and the Olympic Games beckoning for the Women’s team in the summer.
Getting to work with Red Bull for your first sponsorship announcement is certainly a positive way to get your feet under the table.
“I am thrilled to be working in the sport I love and hopefully promoting it as best I can in a summer like no other,” he said.
Findlater replaces Emma Porter, one of our Sport for Business 30 under 30 from 2020 who has moved on but who we hope will not be straying too far from the world of sport.
30 National Governing Bodies of Sport and over 100 of Ireland’s biggest sporting sponsors are among the 250+ members of the Sport for Business network of sporting and business organisations working together across a number of key areas.
