The number is also up on the 2015 final, when Dublin last faced Kerry in the first of Dublin’s run of five consecutive final appearances. On that day the average audience was 875,300.
This represents a share of 76.5 per cent of those watching television at the time.
In addition to the main TV audience there were also 161,000 who watched via streaming on the RTÉ Player. This itself was up substantially on the 96,000 who streamed the 2019 Hurling Final win of Tipperary. The number who streamed the 2015 Final was 60,000.
Both All Ireland finals will still be high among the Top 20 Broadcasts of 2019 with the Final Replay promising to hit another high.
Last year more people tuned into the Hurling Final which looked an anomaly at the time and does so now again.
The Saturday Game Live on Saturday 14 September will have full live coverage on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player of the All Ireland Football Final replay.
RTÉ Group Head of Sport, Declan McBennett said “RTÉ is delighted that such a large audience watched yesterday’s thrilling draw. Huge credit must go to both counties who will get to do it all again on Saturday week, live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.”
