This morning has seen the launch of a new venture aimed at easing the transition to new technology for sporting organisations.
Frontier Sports Technology is the first in what will be a number of businesses under the umbrella of the Frontier Sports Group.
The business has been created and is led by Dermot Rigley who stepped away from his role as Commercial Director of PRO14 Rugby earlier this year to pursue this new venture. He had previously been the Commercial Manager at RTÉ Sport.
“We have worked tirelessly to bring this business to life in recent months, but in reality, it is over 20 years in the making,” Rigley told us last night.
“A lifetime working in sports broadcast, sponsorship and sports administration has given me an understanding of the challenges and opportunities that are placed in front of the people who run sport around the world.”
“We have seen technology revolutionise any number of industries (and daily tasks), it has been a challenge for the sports sector to onboard new technologies due to limited resources and expertise in some cases, and caution about the impact of change on large audiences and big match crowds in others.”
“Frontier Sports Technology is aiming to help sports organisations benefit from the right technology, at the right time, and with the right guidance and input.”
The first product to be out in the marketplace at the moment is Stadium Shield, a Covid driven approach towards getting fans back safely into stadia.
This will be backed up by Sports Bunker, a data-driven content management system that assists in managing and monetising content, and Sports Hub a trading platform for sports rights.
Rigley has brought together expertise from partners including the company behind Tickets.ie who have long been friends of Sport for Business, Overcast HQ and Altada.
The end result is a suite of services that are bound together by technology in a package that will have appeal across the international sports sector.
More announcements are planned in the coming weeks but for now, we wish Rigley and the entire team the best of luck in this new adventure.
