The Premier League finished up yesterday in England but with Champions’ League qualifying just around the corner, the seasonal break will be short enough for fans of top flight teams from beyond Cork or Dundalk.
The FAI will breathe life into that immediate level of anticipation for the new season when announcing later this morning the details of a major pre-season friendly to take place in Ireland in early August.
We are promised two top flight teams with over twenty national trophies between them.
Previous teams taking part in games at the Aviva Stadium in the summer period have included Celtic against Barcelona who drew a crowd of 47,000 last year, as well as games featuring Inter Milan, Liverpool, Manchester City and others.
This season’s marquee game will be announced just after noon today at the stadium and Sport for Business will be there to bring you the news as it breaks.
