GOAL Jersey Day returns on Friday, October 2nd, encouraging schools, workplaces, sports clubs and communities across Ireland to pull on their favourite colours in support of GOAL’s international humanitarian work.
Now in its 38th year, GOAL Jersey Day is once again being proudly supported by Premier Sports, bringing together the worlds of sport, community and humanitarian action through one of the simplest fundraising ideas on the annual sporting calendar.
There are no restrictions on the colours being worn. GAA county and club jerseys sit alongside football, rugby, hockey and international shirts, with participants simply asked to wear the jersey of a team that matters to them and make a donation to GOAL.
The 2026 event takes place on Friday, October 2nd, with participation encouraged in schools, offices, sports clubs, training grounds and among groups of friends.
GOAL currently operates across 18 countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, working with communities affected by conflict, displacement, poverty and other humanitarian crises.
The longevity of Jersey Day is an important part of its appeal. Over 38 years, it has become a familiar fixture for generations of Irish schoolchildren, while its expansion into workplaces and other community settings gives businesses and organisations an accessible way to support a charitable cause while also creating a little internal competition around sporting allegiances.
Sport for Business Perspective
Premier Sports’ continued backing also shows how a sports media brand can use sponsorship to connect its core business directly with a wider social purpose.
Jerseys are among the most visible symbols of sporting identity and fandom, and Jersey Day turns that emotional connection into a fundraising mechanism requiring little more from participants than wearing their colours and contributing what they can.
For sports organisations and businesses across the Sport for Business community, it is also an easy activation to embrace. Staff can represent their clubs, counties and teams on October 2nd, using the inevitable sporting debate that follows to raise funds and awareness.
Registration is now open for schools and workplaces ahead of GOAL Jersey Day on Friday, October 2nd.
Wear your colours. Show you care.
