Golden Moments Campaign Shines Light on What GAA Means to Fans and Players Alike
Pride, passion and unforgettable memories celebrated in Solgar and GAA/GPA partnership

A new campaign launched by Solgar, the official vitamin partner of the GAA/GPA and the GAA Museum, is capturing the emotional heartbeat of Gaelic Games through the voices of both fans and players.

The “Golden Moments” campaign shines a spotlight on the deep personal and collective connection fans feel for their county teams, as revealed through a nationwide survey and a series of video insights from some of the sport’s most admired figures.

According to the research, pride in the county jersey remains a powerful force. Three-quarters (75%) of fans surveyed say they feel a strong sense of pride and hope when they see their team in action, while 56% describe the mix of pre-match excitement and the playing of Amhrán na bhFiann as one of the golden highlights of the Championship season.

The act of putting on county colours on match day ranked highly, with over 3 in 10 (32%) citing it as a key ritual. The emotional weight of Championship days was also found to grow with age. While 29% of 18–24-year-olds said the atmosphere and crowd were the most important part of match day, that number jumped to 50% for fans aged 44–54—more than a quarter of whom described the buzz on Jones Road as their defining Championship moment.

Solgar’s campaign seeks to celebrate these shared experiences while also highlighting the sacrifices fans make for their teams. One in five respondents said they had either cancelled holiday plans (12%) or travelled across continents (13%) to attend matches. One in ten younger fans (11% of 18–24-year-olds) even revealed they had a tattoo to mark a team achievement.

The results also recall some of the most iconic on-field moments that have united fans in joy or heartbreak: Offaly’s dramatic 1994 All-Ireland Hurling win, Clare breaking an 81-year drought in 1995, the Dubs’ historic six-in-a-row in 2020, and Galway’s Camogie triumph in 2013. The Cork Ladies’ run of dominance between 2005 and 2016, alongside Laois’s long-awaited All-Ireland victory in 2001, also stood out.

Among the most iconic players named were Henry Shefflin, Joe Canning, Stephen Cluxton, Katie Power, and Cora Staunton, reflecting the legacy and inspiration that great athletes leave behind.

The campaign video features Solgar ambassadors and Galway and Cork stars Paul Conroy, Katie Quirke, Michael Meehan, and Valerie Mulcahy, each sharing personal reflections on what it meant to wear the jersey and represent club and county

Speaking at the launch, Natalia Lobetska of Solgar said:

“We are delighted to announce Golden Moments as part of our partnership with the GAA/GPA and the GAA Museum. Gaelic Games are full of rich, memorable and iconic moments and we wanted to capture that through the voices of the people who live it. From pulling on the county jersey to roaring from the stands, these are the experiences that unite us.”
