Kerry football legend Colm “Gooch” Cooper is togging out with Team Solgar this summer as the vitamin brand marks 40 years in Ireland with a nationwide club competition.

The multiple All-Ireland winner was on hand to launch Train Like A Legend, Support Your Club, a campaign that will give one GAA club the chance to win a training session with Cooper, as well as a club makeover fund valued at €5,000.

Two runner-up clubs will also each receive a €5,000 makeover fund, with the prize money available to support equipment, kit, facilities or other improvements.

Solgar, the official vitamin partner of the GAA/GPA, said the competition is designed to support players, coaches and volunteers in clubs across the country, helping them to “find their gold” through commitment, preparation and community spirit.

“We’re delighted to partner with Colm Cooper, a true GAA legend who brought joy to fans in Kerry and across Ireland,” said Natalia Lobetska of Solgar.

“As Solgar celebrates 40 years in Ireland, it’s fitting to team up with someone who embodies excellence and commitment, and who reflects the GAA’s strong spirit of giving back – values we deeply share.

“This milestone also strengthens our opportunity to connect with communities nationwide, particularly through our GAA/GPA partnership.”

Cooper, one of the most decorated and admired footballers of his generation, said the campaign was a fitting way to support clubs at the heart of the game.

“It’s an honour to team up with Solgar as part of its 40th celebrations,” said Colm Cooper, Solgar Brand Ambassador.

“I am encouraging clubs across the country to take the opportunity to enter and to avail of a brilliant makeover prize which will benefit clubs and make a big difference.

“I am also honoured to have the opportunity to provide a training session to the winning club, and I look forward immensely to togging out, sharing some of my own insights as well as learning from the players, coaches and volunteers that I will have the chance to engage with as part of the coaching session.”

The competition adds a community-focused dimension to Solgar’s anniversary year in Ireland and builds on its existing partnership with the GAA/GPA.
