Guinness GAA 2014Guinness has gone back to the theme of one its most popular ads for the latest initiative on the Guinness + App.

It is offering the opportunity for anyone who checks in to a pub using the app between now and August 18th to nominate friends or family to come home from anywhere in the world for any of the four All Ireland Finals held at Croke Park in September.

The offer reprises an ad (reproduced below) from nearly ten years ago about a son getting tickets for his Dad to go to Croke Park.

It is the latest in a range of memorable sporting experiences that are driving downloads and check ins for the app around some of the biggest sporting events of the summer.

In recent weeks there has been one to win a golf session with Des Smyth and Anthony Nash, and to go to Miami for the final of the Guinness International Cup in soccer before the start of the World Cup.

Guinness was the first brand to sponsor the All Ireland Hurling Championship and stepped away from that to become an official partner of Croke Park last year.  It recently stepped back into front line tournament sponsorship by taking over the Guinness Pro12 in Rugby.

There is a neat twist to the ad when the Father is driving away from the pub you can see it is called Liberty Heights.  This was six years before Liberty Insurance took over from Guinness as sponsors of the All Ireland and even before the brand became part of Irish business life when taking over Quinn Insurance.
