The Sport Ireland resilience fund was intended to mitigate the huge damaging impact of Covid on sport but the best uses to which it will be put are ones that not only enable organisations to carry on but to learn and grow stronger.
Gymnastics Ireland fits the bill having used part of its funding to sign a new strategic partnership with e-learning platform LearnUpon.
The online learning managing system (LMS) will be used to coordinate and streamline the delivery of coach and official education programmes.
Coaches, judges and gymnasts will be able to learn at their own pace as well as manage and track their development remotely and from the safety of their homes.
“I have to thank Sport Ireland for the investment from the innovation strand of the Resilience Fund that has enabled us to roll out this new e-learning platform,” said Gymnastics Ireland CEO Ciaran Gallagher.
“It will be a huge step forward in terms of making our education system as accessible as possible for our members.”
“We will be able to offer our members a comprehensive new eLearning platform where they will be able to have easy access to multiple online courses, workshops and webinars,” added Garret Buckley, Education Manager at the National Governing Body.
