Gymnastics Ireland has launched a new ‘A Place for All’ Inclusive Community Charter as part of its continued commitment to providing an inclusive gymnastics community.
The ‘A Place for All’ Charter is part of a firm commitment to ensuring the Gymnastics community continues to be a welcoming place for all and communicates clearly what members can expect from Gymnastics Ireland and in turn what Gymnastics Ireland expects from its members.
The Charter is part of a new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Strategy 2024-2028 that also launches today following an extensive consultation process both internally and also externally.
Partners including Sport Ireland Ethics Department and The Open Doors Initiative have been involved in its creation.
The strategy outlines 4 key commitments:
Engaging and listening to diverse voices
Investing in learning and education
Inclusive leadership and governance
Developing and delivering inclusive programmes and services
“We already operate as an open inclusive organisation but we want to evolve our culture and embed our DEIB and EOO principles across all our activities and in all our clubs so everyone feels valued, respected, and heard,” said Gymnastics Ireland CEO Ciaran Gallagher.
“We know diversity has a positive impact on our organisation, our performance and how we deliver our sport and enhances our performance leading to better decision making.”
“We know that our members care passionately about doing the right thing so we want to ensure they have the support and leadership necessary to deliver our sport in a way that encourages everyone to be themselves and celebrated for who they are.”
