Padraig Harrington produced his joint lowest round at the US Masters on Saturday and remained in contention until the closing stages of Sunday’s final day before finishing eighth behind first time champion Bubba Watson.  It was a welcome return to form for the Dubliner and his best finish at a major since winning his third in 2008.
It also provided great exposure for three brands who had pledged €200,000 to a charitable initiative in return for a three week branding window on Harrington’s clothing at the Masters and for two other events.
IdentityX, a brand of Irish security software specialists Daon, Irish founded US construction company Clune Construction and Blarney Woolen Mills all featured prominently throughout the closing stages and afterwards as Harrington was interviewed on TV around the world.
The deal was to raise money for Gerard Byrne, a cousin of Harrington’s wife who was paralysed in a car accident before Christmas.  It was agreed to by his existing main sponsors Citizen Watches, Golf Ireland and Kartel.
