Aviva have signed up Ireland and Connacht centre, Robbie Henshaw to act as a rugby brand ambassador through the World Cup and RBS 6 Nations of 2016.
The role will see Henshaw making personal appearances on behalf of the insurer and also featuring in social and mainstream media content.
During last season’s RBS 6 Nations Aviva were headline sponsors of RTÉ Radio’s Game On programme which came live from the stadium that bears the brand name.
Henshaw was instrumental in Ireland retaining the RBS 6 Nations title earlier this year. It capped a fine year for the Westmeath native during which he was named the IRUPA Young Player of the Year for the third year in a row, Connacht Rugby Players Player of the Year and Connacht Rugby Fans Player of the Year. He also won the award for Try of the Year.
“Aviva is the perfect company to work with when it comes to rugby,” said Henshaw.
“They have played a huge part in this new era for the game in Ireland with their support of the Aviva Stadium.”
“Their work at a grass roots level in Irish rugby too will hopefully lead to the creation of another golden generation of players and I’m looking forward to working with them as Aviva’s Rugby Ambassador.”
“Robbie is the ideal Rugby Ambassador for Aviva,” added Mark Russell, Group Sponsorship Manager for Aviva.
“He’s a true professional both on and off the pitch and the perfect player for the young Irish stars of the future to model themselves on.”
“We are very excited to get the opportunity to work with Robbie as he helps support our commitment to Irish rugby and the development of the game across the country.”
Aviva has previously used David Wallace and Shane Byrne in ambassadorial roles.
