The Irish Sport Industry Awards have been deferred until 2021. The Awards had begun to accept nominations and plan for the ceremony, which recognises the valuable contribution of sport to the Irish economy each year when the pandemic struck in March.

All applications that were received for the 2020 awards will be carried forward and will remain valid for the 2021 judging process.

Applications will also re-open in early 2021 to allow for new entries.

“We would like to thank everyone who engaged with the awards in 2020,” said Federation of Irish Sport CEO Mary O’Connor.

“We look forward to celebrating the contribution of sport to the economy, and the brilliant work of those in the sector, particularly during these most challenging times for sport, in 2021.”

“Despite there being so little live sport there has still been no shortage of creativity and imagination,” said Chair of the Judging Panel Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business.

“It will feel strange when we come to look back on the year through such a different lens than was expected but that is what has been dealt us and the Awards will return as a celebration of what Irish Sport can deliver.”
