Golf Ireland – Press and Media Manager

About the Role:

Reporting to the Commercial and Marketing Director and working alongside the
Digital and Social Media Manager, the Press and Media Manager is responsible for
the delivery of Golf Ireland’s communications strategy.

This role will proactively seek out and execute PR and media strategies to promote
Golf Ireland championships and competitions, participation programmes and
commercial portfolios while also managing incoming media requests and
relationships with golf-specific and sports media.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Managing Golf Ireland’s relationships with the media, particularly with the sports and golf media.
• Working closely with the Commercial and Marketing Director and the Digital and Social Media Manager to ensure that the relevant media are proactively kept informed of Golf Ireland’s main activities and events.
• Producing written content for all platforms including but not limited to press releases, articles, websites and social media
• Monitoring the media coverage of Irish golf and ensuring that colleagues across the organisation are kept abreast of relevant coverage.
• Planning and managing media access to, and coverage of, Golf Ireland’s championships and Inter-club competitions.
• Managing photography requirements across all Golf Ireland championships and events
• Working proactively with colleagues to identify opportunities for positive media coverage and commentary across sports and non sports media
• Ensuring that the Golf Ireland brand is correctly displayed at all public events.

Experience & Knowledge:

• A relevant qualification in communications or related field.
• Experience of engaging with the sports media in Ireland.
• Strong written skills with an understanding of social and digital platforms.
• Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders by sharing information and identifying and dealing with issues effectively.
• Experience of working with volunteers.
• Understanding of or experience in the golf industry in Ireland is desirable

In this role, you will develop and manage a marketing and PR strategy to ensure Electric Ireland’s brand portfolio engages customers and key stakeholders through the ESB, Electric Ireland and ESB Energy brands.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will cover the items below:

  • Champion ESB’s brands internally and externally with the creation and execution of internal and external brand programmes that demonstrate our values of trust, courage, driven and caring.
  • Manage brand identity, ensuring all communications adhere to agreed brand guidelines in terms of logos, expressions, colours, photography and tone of voice across all channels.

  • Manage ESB’s sponsorship portfolio, including Electric Ireland’s sponsorships, with market-leading activation programmes that achieve agreed objectives for our business and sponsorship partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a similar senior marketing role.

  • Evidence of strong PR and stakeholder management experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate teams and deliver high performance through effective collaborations with a myriad of stakeholders.

Basketball Ireland is inviting applications for the role of Digital Media Manager and Communications Assistant

The role is to create content and maintain Basketball Ireland’s website and social channels, working closely with the Media and Communications Manager.

The Digital Media Manager and Communications Assistant will have a passion for social media and possess the ability to create dynamic content, including video.

They will assist the Media and Communications Manager in all communications and media relations for Basketball Ireland, both internal and external. This will include writing previews, game reports, press releases and in-house documentation.

Dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, helping build and maintain effective working relationships.

Help create new and innovative ways to promote and market Irish basketball.

Other general media and marketing duties including, but not exclusive to, supporting live TV broadcasts and management of media, photographers, commentary and streaming.

Working as a core part of a team, to ensure the smooth running of events.

Providing support to other Basketball Ireland departments and Irish international teams.

Candidate Requirements:

At least two years experience in a similar role.

A third level qualification in Digital Media/Communications/Journalism, or relevant discipline.

Passion for social media and proven ability to create dynamic content, including video

Proficiency in use of camera equipment and ability to desktop edit, using software such as Adobe, FCP or similar.

Knowledge of content management systems, such as WordPress.

Strong communication and writing skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with media contacts and the volunteer base of an organisation.

Knowledge of the sports media scene in Ireland.

This is a full-time role based at Basketball Ireland headquarters at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Dublin 24. The job shall start remotely, due to Covid-19.
