Breen Hickstead Show Jumping

It was a great weekend for Irish sport overall with Katie Taylor and Micheal O’Reilly taking Gold medal sin Baku and Sam and Chloe Magee claiming a bronze at the European Olympics but few sports will be celebrating quite as much as Show Jumping.

Following on from a sell out ‘Jumping in the City’ event at Shelbourne Park on Friday night, two Irish riders then went on to claim two major international titles.

World ranked number five Bertram Allen from Wexford took the prestigious Netherlands Grand Prix while Trevor Breen claimed the prestigious Hickstead Derby for a second year in a row.

It’s a sport where Ireland has had great success down the years, and the Dublin Horse Show is a staple on the social and tourism calendars in the first week of August. It is also one which has generated substantial sponsorship down the years with brands such as Longines and Land Rover supporting events at the top end and Irish based Alltech another to have pumped in partnership money here and around the world.
