The Ireland Active Conference and NQS Awards will take place today at the Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny.
Over 200 members from across the fitness and leisure sector will gather for the event which has drawn a very high level of speaker.
The keynote will be delivered by Gary Keegan, CEO of Uppercut who has become Ireland’s most sought after performance expert, working closely with Irish Boxing to create their High Performance set up then with Dublin Football, Cricket Ireland and most recently as a key part of the backroom team with the Irish men’s Rugby squad at the Rugby World Cup Finals in France.
The day will get started with Dr Conor Heffernan a lecturer in the Sociology of Sport at Ulster University who will give what promises to be a fascinating guide to the history of the fitness sector in Ireland.
He will be followed by Guy Griffiths of GG Fit Limited speaking about member retention.
All Ireland winning manager and Head of Teneo Performance Liam Sheedy will be next, taking his brand of leadership and inspiration to the stage in Kilkenny as opposed to Tipperary, and Productivity Coach Niamh Moynihan will take the session ahead of lunch.
Keegan will deliver his keynote before Performance Dietician Anne marie Mulholland finishes the conference.
The day will be MC’s by Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business who will then hand over to Oisin Langan for the night and the presentation of the NQS Awards.
There will be 27 exhibitors in the Conference area, more than ever before, and an indication of the good health of the industry.
John Windle of UPMC will take over as Chair of Ireland Active from Joe Cosgrove at the conference.
