Leopardstown Racecourse has announced that R McSorley’s and The Blackrock will be the Official Pub Partner of the South Dublin Racecourse for 2025.

The aim of this partnership is to interact with the extensive customer base of The Blackrock and McSorley’s in tandem with Leopardstown’s audience in order to enhance their mutual engagement and experience with racing.

“We are excited to partner with R McSorley’s and The Blackrock,” said Tim Husband, CEO of Leopardstown Racecourse.

“Both establishments are not only beloved local hospitality venues but also carry a rich heritage in the community, owned by the esteemed Noel Anderson and former Irish rugby internationals Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney, Sean O’Brien & Dave Kearney.”

“Their dedication to quality service and outstanding hospitality aligns perfectly with our vision for the Leopardstown experience.”

“This collaboration not only strengthens our commitment to providing exceptional experiences for our customers but also celebrates the rich traditions of horseracing and hospitality,” added Noel Anderson, MD of McSorley’s & The Blackrock.

“We look forward to working closely with the Leopardstown team to create memorable moments for all our customer and racecourse attendees and to enhance the vibrant atmosphere that makes race days so special.”

“Together, we aim to elevate the experience of every visitor and to foster a community that embraces both sports and social enjoyment.”

The partnership will kick off with the highly anticipated Dublin Racing Festival, taking place on 1st & 2nd February.

Attendees can expect a fantastic atmosphere at the event and post-racing at both R McSorley’s & The Blackrock, with special offers and promotions from both pubs, enhancing the exciting racing action of the festival.

The pubs are located in Ranelagh and Blackrock, both local to the racecourse and likely places that will be busy for the Ireland Vs England Rugby international taking place on the Saturday evening of the Dublin Racing Festival.

SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE

Racing has succeeded in moving its primary appeal from one of pure gambling to one of a social experience.  Not that this was ever particularly in the background but having two popular local pubs as part of the promotion of Leopardstown for an intial year makes sound sense.

WHAT’S UP NEXT?

The Dublin Racing Festival is on Saturday and Sunday February 1st and 2nd.
