Life Style Sports has announced that it will occupy a new €20 million carbon-neutral distribution centre which is being developed by IPUT Real Estate at Aerodrome Business Park, West Dublin.
The new distribution centre, which will open in Spring next year, will be the first fully carbon-neutral distribution facility of its kind in Ireland and features a substantial investment in sustainability credentials, including solar panels, rainwater harvesting and recycling.
Anyone travelling on the N7 over recent months will have seen the facility rising from the ground and it is great that it will be used by a Sport for Business Member. It will also provide if allowed, a highly visible promotional opportunity for the millions of journeys that will pass it over the coming years.
The new warehouse features a range of other renewable energy elements, including natural and LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, electric car charging and energy usage monitors for Life Style Sports, which employs over 800 people.
The same number of full-time staff will be retained after the distribution centre opening, using its state-of-the-art technology to facilitate development, greater autonomy and a 24-hour operation, which will include same-day delivery for Irish customers.
It is a very impressive looking investment as we can see here…
“As a brand, Life Style Sports is fully committed to investing in its future,” said CEO Mark Stafford.
“Obviously the COVID-19 pandemic has been hugely challenging for all retailers but this new distribution centre is the dawn of a new era for the brand, and we’re hugely excited for the sustainability and operational capabilities it will give us to grow for both our in-store and e-commerce offering.”
“As the largest owner of logistics space in Dublin, our ambition is to develop exceptional buildings that set new standards in design and sustainability in order to attract best in class occupiers,” added Michael Clarke, IPUT Real Estate Head of Investment.
“The facility at Aerodrome Business Park is a carbon-neutral and environmentally sustainable development which sets a new standard for logistics facilities in Ireland. We are delighted to welcome Life Style Sports, one of Ireland’s most innovative and established brands, to Aerodrome.”
“This state-of-the-art building includes on-site renewable energy generation, rainwater harvesting and energy usage monitors which will enable Life Style Sports to minimise its environmental footprint and ensure it can serve its customers in a sustainable and responsible way.”
