Liz Joyce has been appointed to the Board of Sport Ireland following a public call for applications via StateBoards.ie.

She is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Executive Coach with core capabilities in organisational effectiveness and development, people and culture leadership, governance, and transformation.

She served as an Independent Director of the FAI until this month, having been appointed in January 2020.

Her experience includes being the Director of Human Resources at Diageo, the Central Bank, and Pioneer Investments and as a Non-Executive Director of Ervia, Aware, and Concern.

“I am delighted to join the board of Sport Ireland, supporting an active Ireland where everyone can enjoy the lifelong benefits of sports and physical activity,” she said on her appointment.

“I am delighted that Liz has agreed to join the Board of Sport Ireland,” added Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin.

“Her wide experience and skills will be hugely beneficial to Sport Ireland and its ongoing work in the development of Irish sport over the coming years.”

“I want to congratulate Liz on her appointment, and I wish her well in her term on the Board,” said Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne.

“She is filling an important position on the Board, and I have no doubt that her experience will add value to Sport Ireland’s work in developing Irish sport.”

Joyce joins the Board of Sport Ireland, alongside John Foley as Chair, Lynne Cantwell, Páraic Duffy, Kevin Hoy, Olive Loughnane, Deirdre Mongan, Miriam O’Callaghan, Roger O’Connor, Iognáid Ó Muircheartaigh, Deirdre Ryan and Michelle Tanner.
