Lucozade Sport has signed up as an official supplier to the Women’s Rugby World Cup and had three stars from the Irish team down at Sandymount Strand yesterday hosting a ‘Made to Move’ session with Irish fitness expert, author and entrepreneur Pat Divilly.

Nora Stapleton, Niamh Briggs and Sophie Spence helped to put around 50 fans and players through their paces on the sand at lunchtime.  Among the media there to record the event Marie Crowe was the only one brave enough to join in before catching her interview with the potential stars of the tournament taking place from August 9th between UCD in Dublin and Belfast.

This was the fourth Lucozade Sport’s ‘Made to Move’ session, which are a series of high profile events sponsored by Lucozade Sport designed to champion healthy and more active lifestyles.  Others featuring David Gillick have taken place in Malahide where an impromptu 5K run took place earlier in the year.

“We are delighted to announce that Lucozade Sport Low Cal is an official supplier to the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017,” said Philip Keenan, Lucozade Marketing Manager.

“Having Nora, Niamh and Sophie join our ‘Made to Move’ session today was a fantastic opportunity for them to share their expert advice and knowledge in a fun outdoor environment, which is what Lucozade Sport is all about.”

Lucozade Sport has stepped away in recent years from high profile sponsorship of major teams and is repositioning the brand as being for regular people to hydrate after sessions of training.

The Lucozade Sport Low Cal is the one that will be evident through the Rugby World Cup tournament and in a future rebranding of vending machines across gyms.

“It’s more suited to what most people are doing in training, getting you back to optimum hydration after a session of up to 60 minutes,” added Keenan

“It’s fantastic to be able to get out and support Lucozade Sport’s ‘Made to Move’ sessions,” said Irish Captain Niamh Briggs, named in the squad earlier this week after winning her battle with the injury that kept her out of the Six Nations in the spring.

“I’m a passionate believer in the importance of leading an active, healthy lifestyle and understanding the benefits of physical activity. Today’s session was also a great way to kick start the partnership between Lucozade Sport Low Cal and the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017.”
