Maeve McMahon has been appointed to the Board of the FAI as an Independent Director. She replaces Gary Twohig who stepped down earlier this year in order to facilitate the FAI reaching the required 40 per cent gender balance at Board level.

McMahon has extensive experience in the banking and commercial sectors, and has been CEO of OFX Payments Limited in Dublin since December 2021.

She is a former Director of Customer Experience at Ulster Bank and of Marketing in the Commercial section of Nat West Bank in London.

Prior to that she held senior roles with Mastercard and American Express after graduating from the University of Limerick with a degree in Business Studies and French.

“As someone who has worked on many sponsorship deals in football, I hope that my business experience can offer real value to the FAI as we continue to build for the future of Irish football.”

McMahon’s appointment sees her join Catherine Guy, Liz Joyce and Niamh O’Mahony on the board, with one more female appointment required to meet the government demand for balance, asnd Chair Roy Barrett having indicated his intention to exit the role in order for this to happen by the deadline of the end of the year.
