The Aer Lingus College Football Classic has won a major award for the Best Collaboration between Public and Private Sector at the Annual invest in Ireland Awards.

This year’s game between Notre Dame and Navy will bring 40,000 visitors to Ireland and they will be at the upper end of the spending scale, staying in five-star hotels, preferably with a Castle in the title.

Grant Thornton and Fáilte Ireland have estimated the economic value to Dublin and the rest of the country will be €413 million over the five years of the current run of games.

Demand for tickets from the US for this year’s game is such that domestic sales will be via a public ballot. It will be a golden ticket well worth winning when the game takes place on Saturday evening, August 26th.

Fáilte Ireland and Dublin City Council, as well as the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media, the IDA and Enterprise are long-term partners from the Public sector with Aer Lingus, Glen Dimplex, Grant Thornton, Eversheds Sutherland, Kerry Group and Horizon among the private backers.
